first_imgFederal Shadow Minister for Tourism Bob Baldwin congratulated 2011 winners of the Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence (Sydney metropolitan area and surrounds), announced this evening in Sydney.Mr Baldwin said he was pleased that culinary mastery is more than ever front and centre of popular culture – something that television shows like Master Chef has reinforced.“Hospitality and Tourism is all about the experience, and tonight’s winners are individuals and teams who create memorable dining experiences for domestic and inbound tourists,” Mr Baldwin said“Australian restaurateurs are amongst the best in the world, and year on year it’s clear that the standards achieved in cooking and presentation are continuously improving.“These coveted awards do a great deal not only to recognize hard work and achievement, they also encourage competition within the industry, and ensure that restaurant industry standards are maintained. Restaurant Catering Association Association CEO John Hart said the Awards are the most dependable and authoritative guide to Australia’s best restaurants and caterers. “With more than 500 trained judges and 2,000 entrants, the Awards for Excellence set the national benchmark.
